COMPOSER

Maierhofer’s extensive and creative compositions –

from string quartets to choral compositions,

from dramatic works for the stage to sound collages –

are distinguished by a broad range of styles.

Well practised on both sides of the border between

serious and popular music, he is equally at home

with jazz rock, pop and ethno

as with contemporary forms of expression

and historical composition techniques.

His work is international documented in concerts, numerous publications and CDs.

2004 – about the “ETHNO-MASS for peace”

I listened to the Ethno Mass this past weekend as I traveled to DC. I actually listened to it three times because I was so impressed with the musicality, style, nuance, vocalism and spirit of the work! You have achieved something very, very special and I would like very much to help with the promotion of the piece in the states. I'm considering doing it with University Choir and will probably do a few movements with Essence of Joy to be performed during the Martin Luther King holiday observance in January 2005. Each movement has a unique blend of text, melody and pulse that draws the listener into the core of the piece. The movements for Chief Seattle, Mandela, M. L. King and Mother Theresa are truly great!
