BIOGRAPHY

LORENZ MAIERHOFER (born 1956)

Composer, Lyricist, Author

After studying in Graz, Austria, he worked for many years as a teacher of music and choral singing, as a musician and choirmaster and as a lecturer and international consultant and speaker. He is the editor of a comprehensive work on musical and choral education. A committed advocate of music for people – in a practicable and understandable form – his aim in his work in musical and choral education is to build lasting bridges in keeping with the times also for young people and enthusiastic amateurs. Over and above this, his compositions encompass a very broad range of styles – from serious to popular, and from contemporary and historical forms of expression up to and including jazz, gospel and ethno. The range of his oeuvre extends from dramatic works for the stage to contemporary sound collages and from string quartets to choral compositions. His numerous publications, recordings, and performances provide ample evidence of his artistic creativity. Since 2002 Lorenz Maierhofer has devoted himself to his work as creative artist, as a composer and lyricist, in Kirchberg a. d. Raab /Styria/Austria.
